Student Emergency Fund

Student Emergency Fund

Each year, needy students, through no fault of their own, experience unexpected financial crises. There are several loan funds at our university, but this fund is unique in providing outright one-time grants to students on an emergency basis. Past grants have funded:

  • A student’s travel to Florida for the funeral of his grandmother who had raised him;
  • Two nights at a Holiday Inn in December to prevent a student from having to live in his truck as he took his last finals;
  • A grocery store gift card to cover food costs for two weeks until scholarship funds reached a student’s University account;
  • Overdue fees for a student with a small child so she could graduate, get a transcript and start a job in hopes of building a self-sustaining life; and most recently
  • Emergency Room expenses over and above what insurance would pay for a young women who had been sexually assaulted.

The Student Emergency Fund can truly change the lives of students who experience an unexpected financial crisis. Please make a gift today to support the Student Emergency Fund and help a student reach their potential at Radford!
